Flexible Nasolaryngoscopy
Flexible nasolaryngoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to visualize the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, and larynx using a thin, flexible fiberoptic endoscope. It is commonly indicated for evaluating hoarseness, throat pain, dysphagia, nasal obstruction, and suspected lesions.
Performed in an outpatient setting under topical anesthesia, the scope is gently passed through the nose to examine the upper airway in real time. It allows dynamic assessment of vocal cord mobility and airway function. The procedure is quick, well tolerated, and carries minimal risks, such as mild discomfort, gag reflex, or rarely epistaxis.
